ASEAN plus three leaders vow to boost sustainable trade investment, regional peace and stability

Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on Saturday agreed to boost cooperation for sustainable development, trade, investment, and peace and stability in the region.
The agreement was made in the 25th ASEAN Plus Three (Japan-China-RoK) Summit in Phnom Penh this morning, chaired by Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chair of ASEAN 2022.
In the summit, the APT leaders reviewed and valued the 25th anniversary of the launch of APT cooperation this year and shared their views on the future APT cooperation, said HE Kung Phoak, secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Spokesperson. for th 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.
They also stressed the important relations of investment, market openness, and ensuring the inflow of supply chains between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries to allow concerned parties to take advantage of the free trade agreements, he said at a press conference this evening.
They confirmed that from next year onwards, they would advance cooperation based on the new APT Cooperation Work Plan for five years 2023-2027.
The APT Cooperation Work Plan 2023-2027 serves as a principal guide to enhance APT cooperation over the next five years toward achieving the long-term goal of establishing an East Asian community with ASEAN as the driving force.
They also discussed regional and international affairs of common concerns related to the situation in Ukraine, Korean peninsula’s latest developments and the situation in Myanmar. Chea Vannak – AKP
