Gachon University will participate in the Jeonbuk - Gyeonggi collaboration model of the Ministry of Education's "2026 Ultra-Wide Growth Engine Talent Development Project," training specialized personnel in the fields of hydrogen energy and Physical AI.

The Ministry of Education selected six ultra-wide collaboration models in which local governments, universities and companies jointly train talent linked to regional industries. Each model receives up to 60 billion won over four years.
The Jeonbuk - Gyeonggi model is led by Woosuk University, with the participation of seven universities in Jeonbuk and three universities in Gyeonggi. The model links Jeonbuk's hydrogen production and mobility capabilities with Gyeonggi's artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing and hydrogen storage and distribution capabilities, with a plan to train 2,000 people in the hydrogen and Physical AI fields over four years.
Gachon University takes on the role of lead university for the detailed Gyeonggi regional project, leading education in hydrogen storage, distribution and operational optimization. The main training areas include hydrogen storage materials and systems, hydrogen transport, distribution and charging systems, and Physical AI-based storage and transport optimization, safety and operations.
The program covers hydrogen storage system design, material property and durability evaluation, high-pressure and cryogenic safety design, and liquefied hydrogen transport and charging station operation. It also provides training in AI-based optimal storage system design, real-time hydrogen leak monitoring, predictive maintenance, and operations and maintenance (O&M).
Professor Kim Han-sang of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gachon University, who oversees the detailed Gyeonggi regional project, said the university will train convergent talent needed at industrial sites based on its education and research capabilities in AI and hydrogen storage and distribution.
