    Décarbonation I L’accréditation ACA Airport à VINCI Airports

    Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport obtains ACA 3 accreditation (Airport Carbon Accreditation). The ACA assesses the progress of airport decarbonization around the world, as well as their contribution to aviation's global "Net Zero Carbon Emissions" trajectory. Obtaining this ACA 3 accreditation marks a new step in the efforts to reduce emissions by Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport and its occupants.

    Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport obtains ACA 3 accreditation (Airport Carbon Accreditation). A global reference program, the ACA assesses the progress of the decarbonization of airports around the world as well as their contribution to the global “Zero Net Carbon Emissions” trajectory of aviation. Obtaining this ACA 3 accreditation marks a new step in the efforts to reduce emissions by Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport and its occupants. VINCI Airports' decarbonization plan has taken an important step with most of the French airports in the network obtaining higher levels of "ACA - Airport Carbon Accreditation" accreditation.

    In 2021, Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport will be the first French airport to make sustainable biofuels available to airlines. In 2022, the airport is committed to the electrification of the runway equipment fleet and receives the very first 100% electric aircraft de-icer in the world. In order to meet current energy challenges, the airport has implemented specific energy sobriety measures since October 2022 (optimization of electricity consumption, heating to 19°C in offices and 17°C in the terminal, etc.). In 2023, the airport is continuing its environmental action plan by launching actions for biodiversity and on the reduction of waste volumes and their 100% recovery, and on the reduction of water consumption, as well as projects installation of photovoltaic panels.

    The solutions deployed, common to all airports in the network, have already enabled VINCI Airports to reduce its direct emissions by 28% since 2018:

    Sobriety and energy efficiency measures, with for example the ongoing renovation of Terminal 2 at Lyon airport (-40% building consumption).
    Solar power plants on airport sites: 35 MWp already in operation internationally, project in progress at Lyon-Saint Exupéry;
    Forest carbon sinks with a low carbon label near airports to sequester residual emissions;
    Cooperation with airlines and passengers: calculation of scope 3, eco-modulation of airport charges, electrical supply systems for aircraft on the ground, electric charging stations in car parks for passengers;

    The airports of Nantes Atlantique, Saint-Nazaire, Rennes Bretagne, Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne, Grenoble Alpes Isère, Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc and Toulon Hyères obtain level 3 accreditation. Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport reaches level ACA 4 +, the highest in the program. These new ACA accreditations attest to the effective transformation of the network towards the overall “Zero Net Carbon Emissions” objective for each of the airport companies on its own activities (scopes 1 and 2). VINCI Airports has set itself the objective of achieving this in 2023 in Toulon Hyères and 2026 in Lyon.

    The world's leading private airport operator, VINCI Airports manages more than 50 airports in 11 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Thanks to its expertise as a global integrator, VINCI Airports develops, finances, builds and operates airports by providing its investment capacity and know-how in optimizing operational performance, modernizing infrastructures and managing their environmental transition. VINCI Airports is the first airport operator to commit to an environmental strategy on an international scale in 2016, to achieve the net zero emissions objective across its entire network by 2050.
