On the 28th, the Construction Technology Research Institute announced that it had developed a model capable of integrated analysis of "inland water flooding," in which urban areas are flooded due to inadequate drainage, and "outside water flooding," caused by river flooding. By analyzing two types of inundation, which were previously calculated separately, the risk of inundation can be predicted with high accuracy. This will lead to more effective flood control and evacuation. We have started providing services that utilize the model for local governments and private companies.

The developed model is ▽"River and sewer runoff model" that calculates the process of rainfall falling in mountainous areas and urban areas flowing into rivers and sewers. ▽"River and sewer tracking model" that calculates the flow in rivers and sewers. "Inundation model" that calculates the phenomenon that water overflowing from the sewage system to the urban area spreads on the ground surface. Compared to conventional flood models that deal only with river floods, this model enables a more detailed understanding of the inundation range and depth of continuous and complex floods that occur during torrential rains.

In services for local governments and private companies, we accurately analyze the flood risk characteristics of the area and propose effective and efficient hardware measures to improve safety and software measures such as evacuation plans.
In the future, we will increase the speed of analysis and proceed with building a system for real-time inundation prediction. Coordination with relevant organizations will also be made for external disclosure of the analysis results using the web.
During heavy rains, flooding occurs continuously and complexly from large rivers, small and medium rivers, and sewers, but the conventional analysis model calculated these separately. For this reason, effective inundation measures and evacuation plans are effective in cases where large-scale flooding occurs from the main river after the occurrence of flooding in small and medium-sized rivers, and in cases where evacuation routes cannot be secured due to flooding from the sewage system even before the river floods. was difficult.
