WASTE COLLECTION TO BEGIN AT FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI UNIT 2 AROUND OCTOBER / TEPCO HD FOR EQUIPMENT CHANGE REGISTRATION

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (HD) has decided to begin testing the removal of fuel debris (molten fuel) from Unit 2 of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant no later than around October. Previous Work was scheduled to begin at the end of March, but testing of the robotic arm used to remove the arm took longer than expected so the process had to be revised. The idea is to first remove fish using a "telescopic device" that resembles a fishing rod, then use a robotic arm to start removing fish next year.
