    April 27, Starting at 2:40 p.m. At 16:40 local time (16:40 Japan time), for about an hour, Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, who is on a visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, visited Thang Long Industrial Park, located north of Hanoi, toured the factory of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. in the industrial park and held a roundtable discussion with representatives of companies operating in the industrial park. The overview is as follows:

    Prime Minister Ishiba was welcomed by Mr. Toshio Homma, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Canon Inc., and employees of Canon Vietnam. Mr. Kawabe Kenta, General Director of Thang Long Industrial Park, presented the industrial park's operations, Mr. Homma, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Canon Inc., and Mr. Shigeyuki Okamoto, General Director of Canon Vietnam, presented the company's printer manufacturing operations in the area.

    Next, Prime Minister Ishiba was led on a 20-minute tour of the factory by Mr. Homma, Executive Vice President of Canon Inc., where he observed skilled Vietnamese workers working diligently.

    After the factory tour, Prime Minister Ishiba joined Mr. Hanji Masahiro, General Director of DENSO Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd., Mr. Matsumoto Kazunari, General Director of MHI Aerospace Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Mr. Asada Kyoji, General Director of TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. to discuss the current situation and challenges faced by Japanese manufacturing companies operating in Vietnam. Prime Minister Ishiba highly appreciated the efforts of Japanese companies, including those operating in Thang Long Industrial Park, saying that the good relationship between Japan and Vietnam is the result of their long-term efforts. We also listened to each participant's candid opinions on the impact of increased uncertainty in the international economic environment on business operations in Vietnam.
