Demand response, progressing sophistication and anticipation ahead/Market procurement volume steadily increasing
◆ Potential is still small
Demand response (DR) functions are evolving. Energy Pool Japan (Minato-ku, Tokyo, President Ken Ichimura) implemented an operation that repeats the increase and decrease of demand three times a day for the first time this winter. We will also work on demonstrating the ability to control the factory production line to create high-speed adjustment capabilities. However, only a handful of resources are capable of such advanced operations. Rules are being designed to bring more DR into the market, but President Ichimura cautions, "There is a gap between expectations and reality."
