Chinese photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer YuanTech Solar Co Ltd said on Wednesday it has received the Brazilian INMETRO certification, which is paving the way for the firm to step into the local renewable energy market.

The INMETRO seal has been required since July 2011 for all PV products seeking to enter the Brazilian market. In the case of PV modules, it ensures they meet the standards for energy efficiency in the country.

Brazil’s installed PV capacity will exceed 20 GW by 2024, according to data from the local solar association ABSOLAR. In order to meet the expected increase in market demand, the Chinese firm is planning an expansion not only in the country but throughout the whole of South America.
