Air Liquide Introduces Hydrogen-Engine Trucks in the Netherlands with Government Support
Netherlands – November 18, 2025 – Air Liquide has launched its first two hydrogen-powered trucks in the Netherlands, marking a significant step in decarbonizing its gas distribution network. The trucks, MAN hTGX models, are powered by hydrogen internal combustion engines rather than fuel cells, representing an alternative route to zero-emission transport.
These vehicles will replace existing diesel-powered trucks in Air Liquide’s logistics operations, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions in daily distribution activities. The deployment is supported by Dutch government subsidies aimed at accelerating the adoption of low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles.
Air Liquide emphasizes that hydrogen internal combustion engines offer operational flexibility, using existing vehicle technology while enabling the shift to hydrogen as a clean fuel. The company expects the new trucks to demonstrate both environmental and economic benefits, providing a scalable model for hydrogen-powered freight in urban and regional networks.
The rollout in the Netherlands is part of Air Liquide’s broader European strategy to integrate hydrogen into industrial and mobility applications, supporting its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in line with global climate goals.
