The Japan Federation of Construction Contractors (Nichikenren, Chairman Yoichi Miyamoto) has compiled "best practices of reducing working hours through soft management" by site managers at construction sites where member companies are constructing. Less than a year remains until April 2024, when the cap on overtime work with penalties will be applied. While the management ability of the site manager is considered to be the key, the book introduces a total of 47 excellent examples of actual efforts at construction sites to reduce working hours and to close the site eight times a week.
The collection of case examples was prepared mainly by the productivity improvement subcommittee of the construction subcommittee established in the construction production committee. It is published on the homepage (https://www.nikkenren.com/kenchiku/saving/timereduction/search.html).
For each case study, the content is arranged and introduced for each of the following categories: ▽Overview ▽Photographs and drawings ▽Background and issues of efforts ▽Effects ▽Benefits ▽Application conditions ▽Improvements and application conditions ▽Search categories Search classifications include items such as mindset reform, work reduction, efficiency improvement, human resource development/education, work sharing, appropriate construction period, vacation, and work-life balance, so that you can search for cases that match your purpose with pinpoint accuracy. .
Looking at the contents of the main examples, we introduce the setting of days when you can concentrate on desk work such as document preparation and drawing checking, and the initiative to shift some of the work at the work site to in-house staff. Various innovations have also been made in construction management that incorporates ICT.
