Customers renting hydrogen-powered trucks from Hylane will be able to refuel at selected H2 Mobility stations in Germany for around €8/kg starting 1 January 2026.

Thanks to contractually guaranteed purchase volumes agreed with Hylane, customers benefit from reduced green hydrogen prices at facilities in Düsseldorf and the Rhine-Neckar region.

H2 Mobility can offer fuel at €8/kg because the stations involved are large, high-utilisation sites located along major freight corridors – for example, the Düsseldorf station has a capacity of up to five tonnes per day.

At public refuelling stations in Germany, hydrogen typically costs between €10–€15/kg, so €8/kg brings fuel cell trucks closer to diesel parity.

However, the offer applies only to Hylane customers and only at two regional clusters, meaning the discounted price does not reflect wider market conditions.

Hylane, a subsidiary of DEVK, rents hydrogen trucks on a pay-per-use model. Dr. Sara Schiffer, Managing Director of the logistics firm, stated that the agreement with H2 Mobility demonstrates that hydrogen trucks “work both ecologically and economically.”

The two companies frame the offer as proof that hydrogen trucking is feasible today, supported further by Germany’s recent toll exemption for zero-emission trucks until 2031.

Martin Jüngel, Managing Director and CFO of H2 Mobility, said: “This is the only way to create the necessary security for infrastructure operators, vehicle suppliers, and customers to switch to sustainable transport and mobility applications.”

Nevertheless, Hylane’s press statement emphasized that the economics of hydrogen mobility still depend on Germany’s greenhouse gas quota trading system and certification of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) under RED III, which several EU countries have struggled to implement.
