Reihoku power plant to start co-firing test at Unit 1 from 11th
Kyushu Electric Power Co. announced on the 7th that it will conduct an ammonia co-firing test from the 11th tomorrow at Reihoku Power Station Unit 1 (coal, 700,000 kW) in Reihoku Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. This is the first time for Kyushu Electric Power Co. to undertake an ammonia co-firing test at a coal-fired power plant. First, start co-firing from 0.1% and check the combustion state of the fuel and the effect on the equipment. Kyushu Electric Power Co., Ltd. has set a key performance indicator (KPI) for 2030 to study and establish technology for mixed combustion of 1% hydrogen and 20% ammonia, and will accelerate efforts toward practical application.
