Bosch presents its technologies for hydrogen stations at the Hannover Messe
The group is present at this international meeting. This is an opportunity to lift the veil on a little-known but nevertheless strategic aspect of Bosch’s activity.

We know that the group plans to produce fuel cells for mobility, but also for electrolysers. And one of its divisions, Bosch Manufacturing Solutions (BMG), which is the special machinery unit, provides advanced manufacturing equipment and testing technologies for fuel cell manufacturing, from individual components to complete systems.
But the German industrial giant is also investing in hydrogen service stations, the number of which will increase significantly by 2030. In collaboration with partners, its other subsidiary Bosch Rexroth has developed solutions for the compression of hydrogen , in a power range between 10 and 280 kW. To be able to refuel vehicles with hydrogen quickly and easily, the gas must be compressed up to 900 bars. A new cryogenic pump with electro-hydraulic drive was therefore developed in partnership with FirstElement Fuel, an American player. This cryogenic pump directly compresses liquid hydrogen to 875 bars. The objective is to refuel heavy goods vehicles with 100 kg of hydrogen in less than ten minutes. The first service stations of this type should be equipped from 2025.
Additionally, Bosch Rexroth has worked with Maximator Hydrogen to develop scalable, low-maintenance drive units, with outputs currently up to 250 kW. New container-based compressors can potentially cut the total cost of ownership in half compared to commercially available alternatives. The Swiss Coop group already uses hydrogen trucks which refuel at five service stations equipped with Maximator and Bosch Rexroth technology.
