    Wakkanai City, Hokkaido, five companies in the city, and Eurus Energy (Minato-ku, Tokyo) will jointly establish a new regional power company, "Kitafu to Taiyo Energy," on February 26th. A meeting of founding promoters was held on February 8, at which the company establishment matters and the contents of the articles of incorporation were determined, and officers were elected.

    Starting in October 2024, the company will begin supplying electricity to 41 public facilities that receive high-voltage power, such as city hospitals, city halls, and schools, to meet the annual demand of approximately 14 million kWh. Initially, it will supply electricity generated by Wakkanai Mega Solar Power Plant, a mega solar power plant operated by Wakkanai City, as well as electricity from major power companies.

    The Wakkanai Mega Solar Power Plant has an output of approximately 5MW and is equipped with a 1.5MW NAS battery. The annual power generation capacity is expected to be approximately 4 million kWh. It was built in 2006 as a demonstration project for NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), and after five years of demonstration, it was transferred to Wakkanai City free of charge in March 2011, and after the start of the feed-in tariff system (FIT). is operated as an electricity sales business using FIT.

    The purchase period under FIT is until 2027, and we will also consider converting to feed-in premium (FIP) for power supply to Kitakaze and Taiyo Energy.

    From 2029, power supply from wind power plants will also be considered. The company is currently in talks with Eurus Energy, which operates the Eurus Cape Soya Wind Farm, which has an output of 57 MW (57 1 MW wind turbines) in the same city. In the future, the company aims to supply electricity to private companies and ordinary households.

    The capital of Kitakaze and Taiyo Energy is 58 million yen, and the investment ratio is 25.9% by Ishizuka Construction, 22.4% by Wakkanai City, 17.2% by Eurus Energy, and Nakata Gumi, Fuji Construction, Tomita Gumi, and Sakurai Dengyosho. 8.6%.
