Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has signed a contract with Shimizu Corporation, Kojima Gumi and Sanno Construction Joint Venture for ``Complete Design and Construction Work of Atsugi City Complex Facility Development Project (Phase III)''. The contract is expected to be signed on August 24 and approved at the full City Council meeting on August 5. The contract amount (tax included) is 27,881,451,862 yen. The performance deadline is March 1, 2027. This contract is a construction contract. A business agreement, design services contract and pre-demolition contract were signed in May.
A project to relocate or construct a new government building uses the design-build (DB) method, in which detailed design and construction are ordered at the same time. The joint venture was selected in April through an open call for proposals. The plan is to build a nine-story complex with a total area of about 470,000 square meters. Construction will begin in July 2024 and is expected to be completed in March 2027. The goal is to begin operations in fiscal 2017.
The construction site is Nakamachi 2-2 district (Nakamachi 1, construction site area about 4 hectares) in front of Odakyu Hon-Atsugi station. According to the architectural plan, the land area is about 12,800 square meters. The complex has a construction area of about 5,500 square meters. This is an S-shaped building with one basement and nine floors above ground, a total area of 46,800 square meters and a height of about 43 meters. It houses the library, Miraikan, city hall, fire department headquarters, and national and provincial administrative offices. It will feature seismic isolation and an earthquake-resistant core structure, and is expected to have a service life of 80 years. In addition, a new multi-storey car park (one basement and seven above-ground levels, total area approximately 7,600 square meters) and a bicycle/water tank building (two floors, total area approximately 350 square meters ) will also be built.
The detailed design is divided into two parts: ``overall architecture'' and ``structure/equipment.'' Ishimoto Architects and Junya Ishigami Architectural Design Office Joint Venture are responsible for the design fundamentals of ``Inclusive Architecture''.
