Obayashi Group has launched an initiative to promote the recycling of building materials using the resource circulation data platform ``myUpcyclea'' developed by Upcyclea of France. Visualizing the environmental performance of building materials and the reuse potential of construction and demolition materials. Information on materials that can be provided from demolition sites, information on demand at new construction sites, and indicators on various impacts obtained from reuse will be aggregated on myUpcyclea to encourage those involved in new construction sites to recycle building materials. Obayashi Group is said to be the first Japanese company to adopt this system.

myUpcyclea was developed by Upcyclea to promote the reuse of building materials. It is already used by over 300 companies worldwide.
Based on the environmental performance information of building materials, we compare carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, water usage, building material circulation, safety, etc., and visualize the environmental impact reduction of reuse. Create, visualize, and record the lifecycle management status of the entire building as digital data, such as traceability and quality status of building materials.
By using the environmental performance information of building materials that is widely accumulated in myUpcyclea, we cover the entire life cycle of a building. Achieve the circular use of building materials. It is also equipped with an AI function that matches the supply information of reusable building materials generated at demolition sites with the demand information at new construction sites.
From September to March 2025, Obayashi will conduct various functional demonstrations using myUpcyclea, including data entry for construction materials, digitization and utilization of various environmental data, construction of an environmental information database for materials, and coordination with external systems. We will continue to identify issues and consider solutions to expand the application of myUpcyclea to the company's demolition sites and new construction sites (the new test building of the Institute of Technology). From April of the same year, the number of locations where myUpcyclea can be registered will increase.
In the future, the company will use the knowledge gained through this initiative to cooperate with various companies and organizations, including the supply chain. Actively promote the reuse of building materials.
