Suzuki announced on May 2 that it began procuring electricity generated by wind and solar power from a local renewable energy giant, Renew Power, at a plant in Gujarat, western India, in May. With a power generation capacity of 17,600 kW, it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) by about 59,000 tons annually. It accounts for about 6% of Suzuki's global CO2 emissions.

Renew Power has installed a solar and wind power generation facility exclusively for Suzuki outside Suzuki's factory premises. Suzuki is the first company to use a mechanism called an off-site corporate PPA (electricity purchase agreement).

The factory introduced 500 kW of solar power on the premises in 2018. The factory in Haryana, northern India, also increased the capacity of its solar power generation facility to 26,300 kW in September 2021.

India is Suzuki's largest market, producing 1.65 million units in FY03 / 22, which is 60% of the production of four-wheeled vehicles. Suzuki has announced a policy to reduce CO2 emissions per production volume by 25% compared to FY2016 by FY2013, and reduction in India is important.
