JR HOKKAIDO / HOKKAIDO KITAHIROSHIMA NEW STATION PLANNING REVISION, ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST FROM 8.5 BILLION TO 9 BILLION YEN

JR HOKKAIDO / HOKKAIDO KITAHIROSHIMA NEW STATION PLANNING REVISION, ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST FROM 8.5 BILLION TO 9 BILLION YEN

JR Hokkaido announced on the 13th a plan to consider a new Chitose Line station to be built adjacent to Hokkaido Ball Park F Village (Kitahiroshima City, Hokkaido). The station will have two sides and four tracks, and the estimated construction cost will be around 8.5 billion to 9 billion yen. The start date has not yet been determined, but the project is expected to take 1 year of design and 4 years of construction.

Regarding the new station, the development plan was announced in 2019, by 2021, the city was authorized by Kitahiroshima City to conduct survey and design, and the development plan is being considered. However, due to skyrocketing labor and material costs, construction costs initially estimated at 8 billion to 9 billion yen have skyrocketed to 11.5 billion to 12.5 billion yen, and Kitahiroshima City has asked to see Review the plan to take into account cost reduction. construction costs and shortened construction period have been realized.

According to the new plan, the new station will be built between Uenopporo Station and Kitahiroshima Station on the JR Chitose Line, about 20 km from Sapporo Station and about 2 km from Kitahiroshima Station. It will be moved about 200 meters closer to Kitahiroshima Station than originally planned, and the distance from Escon Stadium, home of the Nippon-Ham Fighters professional baseball team, will be shortened from 100 meters to 300 meters left.

The station format, which had a four-track structure on one side, was changed to a four-track, double-sided structure. By ensuring the train turnaround function at Kitahiroshima Station and canceling the installation of the traction line at the new station, the work of relocating the up and down main lines became unnecessary.

The expected construction period of 7 years, including design and administrative procedures, has been shortened to 5 years. The estimated construction cost will be carefully considered in future implementation design, but is expected to be around 8.5 billion to 9 billion yen.

If an agreement is reached with Kitahiroshima City on this plan, JR Hokkaido will proceed with detailed design of the new station facilities and procedures in accordance with the Railway Business Act. Kitahiroshima City is preparing to start construction by securing construction costs and conducting city planning procedures.
