Solar Edge expands product lineup. Strengthening support for self-consumption and repowering

Solar Edge, the world's leading power conditioner, will unveil a new optimizer for industrial and residential use, as well as a new power controller suitable for repowering, at "Smart Energy Week Spring 2022". We asked the person in charge of the company about the features of the product of interest.

Compatible with M12 wafer adoption modules
Industrial optimizer "P750"
Some solar cell modules that use large M12 wafers exceed 650W, but the newly released industrial power optimizer "P750" is characterized by being able to handle up to 750W. The largest so far is for industrial use up to 14.1A, which is barely compatible with M10 wafer adoption modules. By 20A, the "P750" is now compatible with modules using M12 wafers. Normally, our industrial power optimizer is configured to have one for every two panels, but the "P750" has one connection for each panel.
Also, in the solar edge system, if the optimizer is compatible with the module, it can be either single-phase or three-phase power conditioner. You can connect according to the rules so far, and it is very flexible. Needs differ depending on the application and application, such as "I want a single phase", "I need a three-phase 210V", and "440V", but the fact that any power conditioner is OK is another major advantage of the P750.

Improved input current and safety
Residential "S440 / S500"
Until now, the power optimizer was the P series, but for residential use, we have released the "S series" with a newly increased input current. Corresponding current is 14.5A for "S440" and 15A for "S500" respectively. The M10 module is sufficient.
The S series has a function called "Sense Connect" that can detect the heat generated by the connector. Most arc discharges are caused by poor connector mating. Conventional residential power optimizers have long output cables, but by making one longer and the other shorter, it is easier to detect heat generation at the connector connection. An abnormality in the connector can be monitored by a remote monitoring system, and it is possible to know that heat generation has started and prevent it before a fire breaks out.

Suitable for repowering
Three-phase power conditioner "SE17.5K-JPI"
A transformer was required for the three-phase power conditioner, but the three-phase power conditioner "SE17.5K-JPI" for Japan can be connected to a low-voltage 210 / 200V system at 210V without a transformer. The rated output is 17.5kW, but the active power can be reduced to 16.5kW with a simple setting. Then 3 units will be 49.5kW. Perfect for low voltage solar power plants.
I think there are many solar power plants operating 210V central power conditioners. If it is "SE17.5K", it will be replaced as it is. Furthermore, I think there are many power plants that use 9.9kW three-phase power conditioners. It is also suitable for this replacement.
Even considering only the 20 years of the feed-in tariff (FIT), it is necessary to replace the power conditioner or make a large-scale renovation at least once. If you switch to a new type of power conditioner with excellent conversion efficiency as soon as possible, the remaining profitability will increase, so we recommend that you replace it as soon as possible without waiting for 10 years from the start of operation.
