12MW/35MWh storage battery for system in Matsuyama City, such as Yonden

    On August 7, Hitachi announced that Matsuyama Mikan Energy LLC, a grid storage battery company jointly established by Shikoku Electric Power Co. and CHC Japan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), will establish the Matsuyama Power Station in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. announced that it has received an order for a power storage system for the grid.

     The Matsuyama power storage plant will install a lithium-ion storage battery with a rated output of 12MW and a rated capacity of 35.8MWh on land adjacent to Shikoku Electric Power's Matsuyama solar power plant. We aim to secure profits by directly connecting to the power grid, participating in the supply and demand adjustment market and the capacity market, and arbitrage trading in the wholesale power market. Commercial operation is scheduled to start in 2025.

     Hitachi, together with Hitachi Energy and Hitachi Power Solutions, will provide a grid power storage system that utilizes a battery power storage system. Hitachi Energy has a track record of implementing systems for distributed power sources in more than 250 projects in more than 90 countries and regions around the world.

     In addition, Hitachi Power Solutions will be in charge of the supply and commissioning of substation facilities, as well as the installation work of the entire power storage station. The company has a proven track record in providing systems that utilize distributed power sources such as solar and wind power and storage batteries, procurement of power receiving and transforming equipment and control systems, installation work, operational support, and equipment maintenance services.

     Matsuyama Mikan Energy LLC is owned 55% by Shikoku Electric Power and 45% by CHC Japan. In this project, Shikoku Electric Power will be in charge of technical research on the design, construction and maintenance of power storage stations, while CHC Japan will be in charge of procurement of storage batteries and operation of storage batteries such as charging and discharging.

     CHC Japan will become a subsidiary of CHC, co-founded by leading Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), energy commodities operator Hartree Partners, and metals, mining and strategic emerging industries investment group Cathay Fortune Corporation (CFC).
