THE KAGOME 2 PLANT DEMONSTRATES “UP DR” AND CREATES DEMAND WHEN IT COMES TO CONTROLLING SOLAR ENERGY OUTPUT

Kagome, Reivalue (Minato-ku, Tokyo) and Global Engineering (Fukuoka City) are responding to requests from retail electricity suppliers and others on dates expected to control generation output solar power (cut production). ``DR (demand response),'' increases electricity usage. It was announced on March 28.

“Raised DR” is a demand response method in which utilities ask customers to increase their electricity usage when electricity supply from renewable energy is expected to exceed demand. By meeting the requirements, consumers can receive discounts and rewards for their electricity usage. As a result, renewable electricity use will expand across the region.

The demonstration will target Kagome's Nasu and Ibaraki plants and generate intraday electricity demand on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when controlled output is expected, based on DR requests from Reivalue . Electricity purchased at relatively reasonable market rates through controlled production will be received from a partial supply from Global Engineering.

Without actually providing power, simulations are conducted on things like the communication system with the power company, regulation times, and plant workload. Finally, we will consider practical operating methods, including adjusting plant production volumes combined with increasing DR. This phase is expected to last until November 30, when it is expected to control solar power generation output.
