In this project, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction will build a floating solar power plant named Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Kumamoto Factory No. 1 floating solar power plant and sells all of the electricity generated directly to Honda's Kumamoto Factory. The project implementation period is 20 years starting from February.
The output of solar panels is 784kW, the output of power conditioners (PCS) is 565kW, the expected annual power generation is approximately 1 million kWh, equivalent to providing electricity for about 200 households overall. The solar panels are manufactured by Jinko Solar of China and the PCS are manufactured by Huawei of China. The float holder is made by Kyoraku.
This is Sumitomo Mitsui Construction's first floating solar power generation project using the on-site PPA model. It has been selected as part of the Ministry of Environment's fiscal year 2020 supplementary budget for ``Projects to promote renewable energy as a mainstay and enhance the resilience of private companies.' '
With the launch of this project, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction has a total of 9 solar power production projects in operation, including 7 projects on water (5 projects in operation and 1 project under planning). and 2 projects on land. Total power output during operation is 15,877kW for panel output and 11,788kW for PCS output.
