The eco-friendly post office "+ (Plus) Eco Post Office" has made its appearance. The ``Munakata Togo Post Office'' in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture changed on October 24, 2022, and the ``Isshinden Post Office'' in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture changed on January 20, 2023. Daito Trust Construction received an order from Japan Post for construction through private bidding. Daito Trust announced on February 21.
The Munakata Togo Post Office has installed a solar power generator with an output of 9.6 kW. About 40 to 50% of the power consumption can be covered. The annual CO2 emission reduction effect is expected to be 5.3t. It is a one-story wooden structure with CLT (cross-laminated timber) used for the roof. The total floor area is 160.14m2. The station will open on November 7, 2022.
The Isshinden Post Office has installed a solar power generator with an output of 16.5 kW. About 50 to 60% of the power consumption can be covered. Annual CO2 emission reduction effect is expected to be 9.9t. It is a one-story wooden structure with CLT used for some of the walls and the roof. The total floor area is 189.74m2. The station will open on February 13, 2023.
"+Eco Post Office" is a post office that is more environmentally friendly, such as the use of renewable energy by installing CLT and solar power generation, which Japan Post is working on. In addition to the two locations this time, we have opened + eco post offices in six locations in Chiba, Hiroshima, Ehime, Kanagawa, Hokkaido, and Miyagi prefectures.
CLT is a large-sized panel building material made by stacking sawn boards in layers so that they are perpendicular to each other and glued together. It is attracting attention as a sustainable building material because it can be used as a raw material from thinned wood.
