EEX Electricity Futures Begins Daily Trading/Total 3.72 Million kWh Contracts

     2 deals in Tokyo base load/expectation for acceleration of "marketization" The
     European Energy Exchange (EEX) started handling daily products on the 26th in its clearing service for electricity futures in Japan. On the same day, two contracts were concluded for a total of 3.72 million kWh in the Tokyo area base load. Among them, 3.6 million kWh was dealt on the 28th, and was concluded between three companies: Tohoku Electric Power Energy Trading, Mitsui & Co., and Denmark's Yggdrasil. A market insider said, "My first impression was that the volume was large. I was able to confirm that there was a need among those in the field."
