Renewal of permit for farmland diversion

Echizen Beach in Nishikan Ward, Niigata City, is on the opposite shore of Sado Island, and has a beach and farmlands such as watermelons and radishes. "Niigata Suzuki Farm Solar Power Plant" is located in a sand dune area about 1km from the coast. It is a farming type solar power plant (solar sharing) with an interconnected output of 1 MW. Italian ryegrass is cultivated under solar panels with an output of 1.36 MW in part of a vast farm of 20 ha.

About three years have passed since the operation started in May 2017, and both the solar power generation business and pasture cultivation are progressing smoothly. In November 2019, we received a second farmland conversion permit from the Nishikan Ward Agriculture Committee in Niigata City, enabling us to continue solar sharing for another three years.

The power generation business operator of the power plant is Green Higashi (Niigata City), which handles landscaping and planting work, and under the panel, the agricultural production corporation Suzuki Farm (Niigata City), which owns the land, is in charge of farming.

This project was developed by Shizen Energy (Fukuoka City), and the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) service was handled by juwi Shizen Energy (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo). The solar panels are made by JA Solar of China, the power conditioner (PCS) is made by Toshiba Mitsubishi Electric Industrial Systems (TMEIC), and the mounting frame is made by RBI Solar (Fig. 1).
