At the board meeting held on the 14th, the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (chaired by Sasaki Yo) selected Professor Ozawa Kazumasa of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies as its candidate for the position of 114th president of the association. The appointment will take effect in fiscal 2026. He will succeed Koji Ikeuchi, the 113th president and current director of the River Information Center, who will take office in fiscal 2013. The decision will be made at the regular general meeting held in Tokyo on June 13.

Kazumasa Ozawa
Kazumasa Ozawa completed his Master's degree in Civil Engineering at the Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo in 1986 (Doctor of Engineering) and became a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo in 2004. He served as Chairman of the Committee for Review of the Use of Comprehensive Evaluation Methods in Public Works. He has held his current position since April 2012.
