Flower Communications (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director Naotaka Yanagawa), Hokkaido Electric Power Co., and Tokyu Land Corporation will develop a data center in Ishikari City, Hokkaido that will be powered entirely by renewable energy. It was announced on the 14th that the three companies had signed a basic agreement. The total project cost is about 16 billion yen. Aiming to open in 2026.
The construction site is approximately 27,300 square meters in Ishikari City. The total area of the facility will be approximately 10,000 square meters with 1,350 server racks. The project has been adopted as an indirect subsidized project by the Digital Infrastructure Development Fund of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Flower Communications provides IT infrastructure consulting, Hokkaido Electric Power supplies renewable energy, and Tokyu Fu provides know-how on real estate and renewable energy development.
The city of Ishikari has been certified by the Ministry of the Environment as a "decarbonization pioneering area" that aims to achieve virtually zero emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) associated with the electricity consumption of homes and office buildings by 2030. Taking advantage of the regional characteristics of wind power generation and solar power generation, we set up a block where renewable energy is used for power consumption. Inviting data centers and other facilities to promote town development based on renewable energy “local production for local activities”.
