The joint venture between SSE Renewables, TotalEnergies and PTTEP has signed an agreement with a consortium of Equitix and Kyuden Group to sell the offshore transmission assets of the Seagreen Phase 1 offshore wind farm in Scotland.

The Seagreen 1 transmission assets transmit electricity from the offshore wind farm via three export cables, each approximately 64 kilometres long, to landfall and a further 20 kilometres inland to the onshore substation in Angus.
Under the sale agreement, the Equitix-Kyuden Group consortium, named Seagreen Phase 1 OFTO, will own, operate and maintain the transmission system, including the subsea and onshore export cables and offshore and onshore substations, for 24 years under the terms of a transmission licence granted by the UK energy market regulator Ofgem.
Ofgem invited tenders to own and operate the prebuilt electricity links including cables and substations which connect Seagreen 1 to the grid on land back in January 2022.
Located 27 kilometres off the Angus coast, the 1,075 MW Seagreen 1 has been operational since October 2023 and, comprising 114 Vestas V164-10.0 MW wind turbines, is currently Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm.
Seagreen 1 is also said to be the world’s deepest fixed-bottom offshore wind farm, with its deepest foundation installed at a record 58.7 metres below sea level, according to Seagreen Wind Energy Limited.
