Eight Japan Technology Development / To accelerate DX, core system operation, speed up management decisions

Eight Japan Engineering Consultants will begin operation of a core system in June that will dramatically improve the efficiency of business processes. Eliminates the dependence of work in management departments such as personnel, accounting, and sales, and greatly reduces the work burden. Approximately 2 billion yen was invested in promoting DX, including system introduction. Strengthen the information sharing system to speed up management decisions. President Yuji Kotani emphasizes, "The construction consultant business model has low productivity. We will break away from that with DX and improve productivity."

The plan is to spread the new system over the next two years and, based on the results, horizontally deploy it to EJ Holdings (HD) companies.

Non-technical departments related to personnel management, accounting, sales management, etc. will introduce the core system. The system covers 26 areas. The introduction of the system is expected to bring about effects such as speeding up management decisions, realizing integrated human resource management, developing human resources based on standard processes, and making bid decisions based on inventory management of skills.

To expedite management decisions, it will be possible to instantaneously analyze the impact of orders received on management based on the expected profits and necessary manpower at the time of receiving orders. Real-time management is aimed at enabling management to grasp information immediately at the same time as orders are received and to avoid risks at an early stage.

By visualizing the employee's production capacity as "skill inventory", it will be possible to quantitatively grasp how much work can be ordered. "Management such as 'We have the capacity to take orders for this volume of work' depends largely on our intuition, and we didn't know the numbers," said Director and Managing Executive Officer Yuji Nagata. Visualization enables efficient ordering based on skill inventory management.

Preparations for the introduction of the system have proceeded in stages from 2022. In the first year of introduction, we will try to penetrate the standard functions, and in the second year, we will customize the system according to the business. Mr. Nagata said, "It will take time to establish the system, but we will be able to see the effects of the system introduction. We aim to both improve operational efficiency and increase sales."

E・JHD has positioned the five-year medium-term management plan starting from fiscal 2021 as a period of "development of infrastructure for innovation and evolution" toward the realization of the long-term vision (21-2030). Of the total of 4 billion yen invested in innovation for five years, 2 billion yen, which is half, is allocated to DX.
