On the 24th, Kyushu Electric Power Corporation's Kyuden International (Fukuoka City, Chairman: Ryotaro Yuzu) and the Development Bank of Japan joined British infrastructure fund Equix to invest in Viridor Energy, a production company Great Britain's electricity generation and waste treatment. The company has 11 waste-to-energy facilities (total capacity of approximately 240,000 kilowatts) in the UK, with an annual waste processing capacity of approximately 3.3 million kilowatts. A project to introduce CCS (carbon dioxide capture and storage) is also underway.
