Chubu Development Bureau / Izusan erosion control dam completed, considering safety with unmanned construction

Completed erosion control dam (provided by Chubu Development Bureau)
In response to the large-scale landslide disaster that occurred in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture in July 2021, the Chubu Regional Development Bureau has constructed 13 erosion control dams in the upper reaches of the Aibatsu River as an emergency project related to erosion control disasters. completed on the day. At first, there was no land route, so materials and equipment were brought in by helicopter.
Various DX technologies, such as the introduction of an unmanned construction backhoe, were used to ensure safety during construction. Taisei Corporation is in charge of construction. The Atami emergency sabo branch of the Fuji sabo office, which had jurisdiction over the construction work, will close on March 31 after completing work that lasted about one year and eight months. From the same day, the prefecture will manage the Izusan sabo dam.
In August 2009, the Chubu Development Bureau set up the Atami Emergency Sabo Branch Office, which is a branch office of the Fuji Sabo Office, on the 2nd floor of the Atami General Government Building in Shizuoka Prefecture, in order to smoothly implement emergency erosion control projects at the request of the prefecture. Installation. In cooperation with the prefecture, city, and contractors, efforts were made for smooth and early recovery and reconstruction.
Construction began with the removal of stones and sand that had accumulated within the prefecture's existing embankment (10 meters high, 43 meters long, and 4,200 cubic meters of facility effective volume). Unmanned Construction The soil excavated by the backhoe was carried out by helicopter. After the completion of the construction road, which was being carried out in parallel, the process was shortened by switching to carrying out by carrier dump, and the removal was completed in December 2009.
In order to ensure the safety of residents in the river basin and the safety of new embankment construction work, concrete blocks that had been stockpiled by the national government were used as materials for the temporary block embankment upstream of the existing embankment, shortening the procurement and construction period. bottom.
Full-scale construction of a new dam began in March 2010. The new embankment, which was constructed about 800 meters downstream of the existing embankment, consists of a main embankment (13 meters high and 59 meters long), a secondary embankment (9 meters high and 37 meters long), and a vertical wall. The facility's effective volume is about 10,800 cubic meters, about 2.6 times that of the existing dam.
Construction Specialist Atsushi Kageyama of the Atami Emergency Sabo Branch Office said, "We have been working on the construction with the aim of completing it as soon as possible. I am happy that the completion will ensure the safety of the people in the area."
