Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism / Plato open to Unity store, accelerating open innovation

3D city model published on Unity
On the 1st, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism released a model of the 3D city model "Project Plateau" constructed by the ministry on the material store of the 3D platform "Unity", which is widely used in game development. Plato can be used as one of Unity's materials, and people in a wide range of industries, including games, will be able to work on simulations and service development using cities.
Unity is a 3D model development and drawing platform developed by Unity Technologies. In addition to home game consoles such as "Nintendo Switch" and "PlayStation 4," it is also compatible with personal computers and smartphones, and is spreading worldwide.
The ministry collaborated with Synesthesia (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President Akihiro Arinen) to make the plateau data built so far compatible with Unity. It was published on the web material store "Unity Asset Store". This is the first time that a Japanese government agency has exhibited in the store.
In the future, it will be possible to draw plateaus on a wide range of devices such as game consoles, personal computers, and smartphones, expanding the possibilities for developing various services. It can be used to simulate the movement of people and vehicles by overlaying them and making use of them in policy making. It will also be possible to draw on smartphones to provide 3D navigation services, or develop games that explore real cities.
