[12 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake] TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi / Debris removal step by step
At Unit 1, the second half of the PCV internal investigation is currently underway.
◆ Robots introduced one after another, repeated investigations
2023 may be the year that an important step is taken in the decommissioning of TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. The investigation inside Unit 1's primary containment vessel (PCV) entered the latter half of the investigation, and a sampling investigation of the surface of deposits thought to contain fuel debris (molten fuel) was completed. A trial fuel debris retrieval is planned for Unit 2. We are advancing step by step while repeating trial and error to take on difficult challenges that are unprecedented in the world.
