Heat pump installations in Europe are likely to remain high. The number of vehicles introduced in 2023 is expected to match the record high in 2022. Thomas Nowak, secretary general of the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), made the announcement in a interview with Denki Shimbun. This will be a slowdown from 2022, when growth approached 40% due to rising gas prices, but Nowak predicts the pace of introductions will accelerate again from this year onwards.

Number of heat pump installations in Europe
In response to the EU's (European Union) decarbonization policy, the number of heat pump installations in Europe has increased at an increasing rate in recent years. In particular, in 2022, gasoline prices skyrocketed due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, causing gasoline prices to reach a record high. Sales reached about 3 million units, up 38.9% over the previous year.
