Yanekara (Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture), a venture company originating from the University of Tokyo, announced on November 18 that it has started a demonstration experiment of the charger/discharger (V2X device) "YaneBox" for commercial electric vehicles (EV). . It will be implemented based on the partnership agreement concluded on October 5 with Kitakyushu City.
One YaneBox can charge up to four EVs directly from solar power with direct current. In addition, by using EVs as storage batteries, it is possible to make the most of the solar power generation at the base. In times of tight supply and demand or disasters, discharging electricity from EVs can contribute to improving resilience.
In the demonstration experiment, YaneBox was installed in the Kitakyushu Eco-Town Center and the power conversion efficiency of DC charging from an existing solar panel with an output of 12 kW was measured. It is expected to reduce power conversion loss by about 15 to 20% compared to general chargers.
In addition, as a performance evaluation of charge/discharge control software, a quantitative evaluation of the utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation by controlling charge/discharge according to the output fluctuation of photovoltaic power generation, economics of EV charge/discharge control linked to the electricity market price Evaluate gender. In addition, we will evaluate the economic efficiency of introducing EVs and chargers/dischargers through third-party ownership.
The demonstration period is from October 2nd to March 31st, 2023. After completion of the demonstration experiment, we will proceed with obtaining the necessary certifications and aim for commercialization in FY2023.
