Le Corbusier Exhibition Opens in Takamatsu — Until November 9, Hosted by Taisei Corporation

On October 3, an exhibition titled “Le Corbusier’s Journey — From the Mediterranean to the Seto Inland Sea” opened at the Maritime Plaza Takamatsu (2nd floor of Takamatsu Symbol Tower), exploring the relationship between the world-renowned architect Le Corbusier (1887–1965) and the sea. The event is hosted by Taisei Corporation, with free admission, and runs until November 9.

Highlights include reproductions of Corbusier’s sea-inspired paintings such as “Two Bathers and Fishing Net” and “Léa”, as well as architectural models. A full-scale frame reproduction of Corbusier’s famous “Cabanon de Vacances” at Cap Martin, overlooking the Mediterranean, allows visitors to experience his Modulor design philosophy in life-size scale.

The Takamatsu version was produced under the concept of “What if Le Corbusier visited Takamatsu?” Materials include waste wood and innovative paper made from recycled udon noodles developed by Kagawa University, along with Shikoku cedar and Taisei’s reusable T-WOOD SPACE Light construction method.

The exhibition coincides with the autumn session of the Setouchi Triennale 2025, which Taisei sponsors. At the preview event on October 2, Shigeaki Wada, Taisei’s Shikoku Branch Manager and CEO of Symbol Tower Development, emphasized the affinity between Corbusier’s pursuit of architecture that “makes people happy” and the spirit of the contemporary art festival.

With Shikoku facing rapid depopulation, Wada highlighted the importance of cultural events in expanding exchange and creating future opportunities. He expressed Taisei’s commitment to continue collaborating with universities and hosting similar events.

Exhibition hours: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., open daily during the run. More information is available on Taisei’s official website.
