The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which is conducting demonstration experiments on flying cars, is preparing an airport for commercial operations. Four candidate sites will be selected by the end of the fiscal year, assuming construction will be mainly in urban areas. The selection will be based on business feasibility and aircraft performance. After considering the flight path between the two locations, the required structure and size of the airport will be determined. We will also examine whether the Tokyo Metropolitan Government or the private sector will be responsible for developing and operating the facilities.
Proposed sites include land large enough to accommodate hangars and within the control of Haneda Airport. The storage facility is expected to be large enough to accommodate two or three aircraft. If land in the city cannot be secured, the plan is to look for land in coastal areas.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Finance Office has announced a voluntary nomination competitive bidding (comprehensive evaluation method) to determine bidders for the ``Reiwa's 6th Survey on Social Implementation of Flying Cars.'' Applications will be accepted through the electronic bidding system until the 19th. Those ranked A for ``urban planning/transportation related research services'' can participate in the bidding.
The task involved conducting interviews with companies that might develop and operate airports, as well as companies that envision flying cars, and verifying the business case. We selected four candidate locations for takeoff and landing airports and simulated three flight paths connecting the two locations. Narrowing down the possible flight paths to one.
Organize the requirements for airport charging equipment, terminal facilities, hangars, etc. necessary to realize the selected flight path. Perform a rough design and create floor plans and elevations. Implementation period until March 14, 2025.
