The tour was sponsored by the organization, Sagami Railway, and Tokyu Corporation. At the beginning, Tomoyuki Hironaka, Deputy General Manager of the organization's Tokyo branch, explained the overview of the construction of the Sotetsu-Tokyu direct line and the characteristics of Shin-Yokohama Station. Next, Mr. Kimi Ozawa, Director of the Sagami Railway Transportation Vehicle Department, Planning Section, and Mr. Tomohiro Wakita, Section Manager of the Operation Planning Section, Transportation Department, Tokyu Corporation Railway Business Headquarters, presented an outline of the operation plan.
Shin-Yokohama Station is jointly managed by Sagami Railway and Tokyu Corporation. Of the two ticket gates, the south ticket gate (closer to Hazawa-Yokohama Kokudai Station) is operated by Sagami Railway, and the north ticket gate (closer to Shin-Tsunashima Station) is operated by Tokyu Corporation. The south concourse has a brick-like wall surface and a dark gray color to create a design that will stand the test of time even after 10 to 20 years. The north concourse is said to express the innovativeness of Shin-Yokohama Station and Shibuya with line lighting and white wood design.
At Shin-Yokohama Station on the Sotetsu/Tokyu direct line, the station bookstore and other buildings have four floors underground and two floors above ground (22,000 square meters in area), with a length of about 330 meters and a depth of about 35 meters. The boarding platform on the 4th basement floor has two islands and three tracks, with a platform length of 205 meters and a maximum width of 8.2 meters.
The new line will open from Hazawa-Yokohama Kokudai Station to Shin-Yokohama Station (4.2 km) on the Sotetsu Shin-Yokohama Line, and from Shin-Yokohama Station to Hiyoshi Station on the Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line (5.8 km). It is scheduled to open in March 2023. The specific opening date and operation plan will be announced after December after coordination among the parties concerned.
