The company filed a lawsuit against Fuji Electric on October 1 for patent infringement related to UPSs, and this action is an additional lawsuit. While the October 1 lawsuit involved the UPS's circuit configuration, the latest lawsuit is said to involve control and construction capabilities.

In addition, TMEIC filed an application with the Korea Trade Commission to suspend imports of Fuji Electric's UPS due to infringement of the company's patent rights in Korea, and an investigation was decided to begin on October 30 of the same year.

UPSs are commonly installed in factories, data centers, and corporate server rooms to protect critical equipment such as manufacturing equipment and network equipment from power failures such as transient voltage drops caused by natural phenomena such as lightning strikes. Similar to power conditioners (PCS) for solar power generation equipment and storage batteries, advanced control is required, such as converting DC current to optimal AC current through high-speed switching using power semiconductor elements called IGBTs.

TMEIC, a leading PCS manufacturer of battery storage and solar power generation, has commercialized a wide range of UPS products and has a proven track record both domestically and internationally.

According to the company, in the process of developing and commercializing the UPS, it has applied for numerous patents to increase conversion efficiency, reduce power consumption and make the UPS smaller and lighter. The company said: ``We consider intellectual property rights an important management resource and will continue to take strict action if we determine that intellectual property rights have been infringed.''
