After verification, the system was changed from storage type to drinking water in 2013 and the decision to continue the business was made. Some 50 years have passed since the investigation began and construction has now begun. The total project cost is about 19.5 billion yen.

The construction site is Kawachi-cho, Toba city. When there is heavy rain, it temporarily reduces the amount of water flowing downstream to prevent flooding. This type of dam is a concrete gravity dam. The dike height is 39 meters, the dike crest length is 193 meters and the total water storage capacity is 2.96 million cubic meters. Normally, water is not stored.

Excavation will continue and concrete pouring will begin in FY 2025. Following completion of crown work, test flooding is expected to begin in FY 2027. Construction timeline until April 28, 2019. The design is in charge of Nippon Koei.
