◆Energy Research Institute's 33 reactors trial calculation/restarted awareness of "results"
The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan has determined the impact of introducing a measure (count stop) that allows for the additional extension of the operating period of nuclear power plants by excluding the period of suspension due to review by the Nuclear Regulation Authority, etc. Summarized. Assuming a capacity factor of 70%, the amount of power generated by the 33 existing reactors during the countdown period would have been lost to about 2.2 trillion kilowatt-hours, and the value of the generated power would be about 30 trillion yen. Compared to replacing all of this power generation with LNG thermal power, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have been reduced by 997 million tons.
We made a trial calculation under certain conditions. In addition to the period from shutdown to restart after the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, the calculation includes the period of suspension including the deadline for completion of facilities for dealing with specific serious accidents (specially important facilities), and the period of suspension due to a provisional injunction to suspend operation.
