TEPCO Renewable Power (RP), a renewable energy development company, announced on the 29th that it is considering the development of offshore wind power generation off the coast of Akita Prefecture. The sea area has been designated by the government as a "promising area" for offshore wind power generation, and open calls for developers will begin within the year. It is the third company to announce its consideration, following Mitsui & Co.'s corporate alliance.
The waters off the coast of Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City are being considered for development. On the 29th, we sent the environmental impact statement to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Akita Prefecture. The maximum output is 400,000 kilowatts, and the wind turbine is supposed to be a "floor-mounted type" in which the foundation is fixed to the seabed. In order to realize this, it is necessary to be selected as a business that can be developed preferentially by public offering. It is expected to start operation after 2030.
In addition to the corporate alliance of Mitsui & Co. and Osaka Gas, a coalition of Cosmo Eco Power, a group company of Cosmo Energy Holdings, Mitsubishi Corporation, and wind power development company Wenti Japan (Akita City) are also considering commercialization off the coast of Akita. . In the first domestic public offering held in 2021, Mitsubishi Corporation's Rengo won the bid for all three sea areas, including off the coast of Chiba.
