Sonnedix buys 18-MW solar park in Japan
Independent power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd said today that it finalised the acquisition of an 18.11-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Japan from renewable energy firm Thai Solar Energy PCL (BKK:TSE).
The ground-mounted solar plant was built at an abandoned farm in the Ishikawa prefecture. It started operation in January 2019, and benefits from the Japanese feed-in-tariff (FiT) regime, Sonnedix said.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Law firm Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu advised Sonnedix on the deal, while the vendor was served by broker Krungthai Zmico Securities.
Following the acquisition, Sonnedix boosted the size of its Japanese operational portfolio to 417.5 MW of capacity. Currently, local subsidiary Sonnedix Japan manages a total capacity of over 480 MW on behalf of the IPP.
Sonnedix plans to continue expanding its portfolio worldwide through further acquisition and development opportunities, the group added.
