Sojitz and Sembcorp signed MOU on wide-ranging new energy and infrastructure business fields aimed at decarbonization

Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”) and Sembcorp Industries Limited (“Sembcorp”), a Singaporean company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) in Singapore to collaborate and develop solutions for the new energy and infrastructure sectors aimed at decarbonization on October 25, 2022.

Sembcorp is a conglomerate company and listed on Singapore Exchange (SGX) with total group assets of 14.4 billion SGD, and one of Singapore’s representative corporate groups that develops infrastructure development projects such as electricity, gas, steam and water, industrial parks and urban development not only in Singapore but also in 6 Continentals. Sembcorp’s largest shareholder is Temasek　Holdings, a Singaporean sovereign wealth fund. Sojitz and Sembcorp have been long-term partners for more than 20 years, starting with the IPP (Power Generation) project in Vietnam in 2001.

Under the MOU, Sojitz and Sembcorp will identify potential projects to develop and facilitate collaborative partnerships of mutual interest. The projects include but are not limited to new energy and infrastructure in Asia Pacific as well as energy and urban domains across key markets which the parties operate in. Sectors of interest include renewables, battery energy storage system, green hydrogen value chains, net zero industrial parks and wastewater treatment, waste to resources, and warehouse platform.
