Ammonia Synthesis under Low-Pressure Environment Demonstrates Commercialization / Toyo Engineering

2015 goal: development of iron-based catalysts

Toyo Engineering Corporation announced on the 27th that it will begin demonstration tests for the commercialization of catalysts that can efficiently synthesize ammonia under low-pressure environments. The "iron-hydride catalyst" developed by Professor Yoshikazu Hara of Tokyo Institute of Technology will be applied to the ammonia production system for fuel. Compared to the conventional catalyst, the capital investment for the ammonia synthesis plant is expected to be reduced by 15%, and the facility operating cost is expected to be reduced by 10%. We aim to commercialize it in 2027 by acquiring knowledge with a demonstration machine with a view to mass production.
