Osaka University has changed the construction method of Agora, a facility planned for the Suita campus (1-1 Yamadaoka, Suita City, Osaka Prefecture) that will house experiments, research laboratories research and exchange space to enhance collaboration between industry and academia. In November 2023, a public competitive tender was announced for the development of Agora, comprising two buildings, using a basic/detailed design and construction package (DB) approach, but this process was canceled due to no one submitting a proposal. For this reason, the design and construction of Agora 2 will be separate and proposals for the architectural design and equipment design are expected to be published this month. We are currently reviewing maintenance approaches for Agora 1 in preparation for ordering it in FY24.
Agora facilities within the planned Suita campus include Agora 1 (10 floors, total area approximately 16,500 square meters) on the west side of the Welfare Hall and Agora 2 (11 floors, total area approximately 8,850 square meters ) west side of the medical research building. . As of June 2022, the estimated construction cost for these two facilities is approximately 12 billion yen.
Along with the change in maintenance method, Osaka University will announce a call for proposals on the 19th for the ``Osaka University Co-Innovative Environmental Improvement Facility (Suita) (Agora 2) Management New Management and Other Facility Design Work. ''

The design time for both projects is approximately 13 months. Contracts will be signed with designers for two projects in the first quarter.
At the time of the announcement of open competitive bidding using the DB method, the completion date for Agora 1 was set at 12 March 2017 and for Agora 2 at 9 October 2016.
