Obayashi Road / First step to improve efficiency of composite material plant, automation of shipment at Beppu Satellite Ascon
Efficiency with automatic guidance and automatic loading
Obayashi Road has built and started operating a silo unmanned shipping system at Beppu Satellite Ascon in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. This is the first step in the company's asphalt plant efficiency improvement plan. Utilizing digital technology, we have automated a series of shipping operations from entry to reception, vehicle guidance, loading of mixed materials, and exit. In fiscal 2023, we plan to introduce automated equipment including manufacturing operations at the Oita Center Ascon in Oita City. This will help address the shortage of workers and strengthen competitiveness.
The efficiency plan will be implemented in three years from FY2023. At the Beppu Satellite Ascon, which is positioned as a test factory, we have installed entrance/exit control gates, entrance reception machines, automatic guidance devices, automatic loading devices, and slip issuing machines as equipment for automating shipping operations. Supports weekend and night shipping.
At the entrance gate, when a truck with a reserved amount of material etc. approaches, the car number is authenticated and the gate opens. Enter the reservation number on the touch panel of the entrance reception machine, and follow the instructions on the reception slip that is output to carry out the shipping work.
When you enter under the silo, the automatic guidance monitor activates. Operate the vehicle according to the displayed stop frame according to the vehicle size. After stopping, start loading the required amount of mixture by operating the touch panel. The weighing machine automatically moves forward, backward, left and right according to the size of the cargo bed, enabling stable loading regardless of skill level.
After loading, the gate opens when you receive the slip from the slip issuing machine. It eliminates the need for paper acceptance and human guidance of the vehicle, and all shipping work can be done while on board.
In January 2023, it will also be introduced at the Oita Center Ascon. In addition to shipping equipment, automation of manufacturing equipment such as material supply to plants, loading of materials to transport vehicles, and primary processing of received waste materials is also planned. Equipment will be installed sequentially from FY2011. Yoshihide Kawata, Manager of the Machinery Section of the Machinery Department, said, "We will expand horizontally to other base plants. Automation will reduce the amount of heavy machinery in the plant, addressing the chronic shortage of human resources and contributing to decarbonization." there is
