◆ Fluctuation hedging with fixed price difference
The European Energy Exchange (EEX) Group's January trading volume of Japan's electricity futures contracts increased by 26.9% from the previous month to 1,221,204,000 kWh, a record high. Prices were on a downward trend, and in addition to strong purchases of new electric power, it seems that hedging of spot transactions for fiscal 2023 has entered. A market insider pointed out, "Moves to fix the price difference (spark spread) between the procurement price of LNG and the selling price of electricity have spread." It shows the view that changes have occurred in how to use futures trading.
