Mingyang boosts capacity of 16MW turbine

Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Mingyang has introduced a version of its largest offshore wind turbine from its 14-16MW platform with a larger rotor.

The MySE 16-260 has a rotor of 260 metres and the capability to withstand extreme wind speeds of 79.8 metres per second, making it suitable in typhoon conditions.

The company said the turbine has been commissioned and is now in operation.

The MySE 16-260 can produce 67 million kWh of power annually.

The turbine features digital twin software technology and software controls to optimise operation, Mingyang stated.
