90 workers installed a movable platform fence on the up platform (around 1:50 am on the 28th)

In the early hours of the 28th, Hankyu Corporation carried out construction work to install a movable platform fence at Kasuganomichi Station (Chuo-ku, Kobe) on the Kobe Main Line. The platform width of the station is only 2.5 meters at its narrowest point, and new platform fences will be installed on the up and down tracks to ensure the safety of users. It will be fully operational from mid-March.

The station is an elevated station that opened in April 1936. The width of the platform, aisles, and stairs is narrow at 2.5 to 3.8 meters, and because it is sandwiched between the city road Yamate main line and the JR Kobe line, it is not possible to widen the platform and install an elevator.

Therefore, from the spring of 2021, we will start barrier-free construction, remodeling the passage on the east side of the platform, extending the platform by about 2 meters, and shifting the train stop position to secure space for installing an elevator. We also decided to install a movable platform fence so that the platform can be safely passed.

The installation work was done after the last train of the day, and the forwarding vehicle loaded with the movable platform fence arrived at Kasugano Road Station after 12:30 am in the snowy cold. After carefully lowering the platform fence, about 90 workers installed it on the side of the uphill platform in the direction of Osaka. In the early hours of the 29th, a platform fence was also installed on the down platform.
The elevator will be installed on the west side of the platform, and a new ticket gate and toilet will be installed. Along with the platform fence, it is scheduled to be in service in mid-March. The total project cost is about 1.3 billion yen.

Kyosan Seisakusho is in charge of installing the platform fences, and Hanshin Construction is in charge of making the station barrier-free.
Hankyu Corporation is considering making the platform barrier-free at Nakatsu Station, which has a narrow platform similar to Kasuganomichi Station.
